Meeting called to order by Roger Stewart at
Present: Roger Stewart Chairman, Joe Edlin First Supervisor, Lindsay Bergquist Second Supervisor, Sharon Stewart Treasurer, Patty Scharr Clerk.
Minutes for the
Treasurers repot was read by Sharon Stewart. The
Phillip Morgan appeared before the board regarding a mistake that the DNR made on the number of acres that was to be placed in the managed forest program. The correct number of acres in the MFL is 19 resulting in a $202.90 overpayment on their 2007 taxes
Galen Seipel also sent us a letter regarding the correction and feels that Morgans’ should be reimbursed for the mistake. See statutes 74.33 (1) © property that was exempt from taxations & 74.35 the recovery of unlawful taxes. Because the amount is under $500.00 the department of revenue will not approve the town’s claim to recover shares of the money from the other taxing entities. Lindsay made a motion to refund the Morgan’s in the amount of $202.90 for the error Joe seconded that motion.
Mary Ann Svoboda spoke to the board on the comprehensive land use planning. Mary Ann agreed to head the planning with help from Jack Fost. No decision to do a plan was agreed upon, to be tabled until the March meeting.
Bills for the month Pepin County Hwy Department $6,616.08, Durand publishing $38.13 & First ˝ fire dept assessment $5,847.45. Lindsay made a motion to pay the bills Joe seconded.
An audit of the 2007 Clerk and Treasurers books was done by Joe, Roger and Lindsay. Joe made a motion to approve the 2007 books Lindsay seconded. All books approved.
Lindsay made a motion to adjourn the meeting Joe seconded.
